The APS “C” Series of controls is the latest revision in the APS line of controls manufactured by Environmental Technology, Inc., replacing the APS-3B, APS-4B, and SC-40 models. The “C” series has now included the following features all intended to further enhance snow & ice melting systems.
-
The inclusion of Building Automation Computer (BAC) hooks for system status annunciation and over-ride on/off capabilities;
-
The inclusion of the High Limit Thermostat (HTL) to provide energy savings by regulating the pavement temperature when used in pavement snow melting applications or to be used as a high limit for roof & gutter deicing applications
The SC-40C now has adjustable hold on time to allow for customization of heater controls for site specific requirement. The APS-4B is limited to controlling only 10 SC-40 units.
The APS-4C & SC-40C now have an adjustable trip threshold for the GFEP settings as well as the ability to read the latch current. While this allows the end user the ability to adjust the GFEP settings, care must be first taken to ensure that the detected GFEP is NOT an actual leakage current, but is in fact a false trip generated by capacitance. This can only be determined by meggering the heater cable to test the insulation & connections. Please consult heater cable manufacturer to determine testing procedures & values.
